Keyboard Navigation
Keyboard navigation is available to help you navigate the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) documentation site. In some browsers, you need to configure the browser settings for keyboard navigation to provide full functionality within the browser window.
This page explains how this accessibility feature works and what steps you must take to enable the features in browsers that require extra configuration.
Using Keyboard Navigation
With keyboard navigation, you can use the Tab key to navigate through the interactive elements of the documentation in your browser window. When an element has keyboard focus, you can activate or manipulate it using the keyboard. The focus control moves left to right, top to bottom. To select an element when keyboard focus is on it, press Enter.
Configuring Your Browser for Keyboard Navigation
Some browsers, such as Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, support keyboard navigation without extra browser configuration. On OS X (Apple) devices, Safari and Firefox require you to adjust browser configuration settings to fully enable the accessibility features offered in the OCI documentation.
Safari
In Safari, to use the Tab key to navigate between HTML elements, you must enable tab highlighting with the following steps in Safari:
- Under Safari, select Settings and then Advanced.
- Select Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage.
Firefox
In Firefox, to navigate within the browser window, you must enable cursor keys to navigate within pages. To enable this feature, open Firefox and perform the following steps:
- Under Firefox, select Settings and then General.
- Under Browsing, select Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages.
After you enable this setting, use the Tab key to move your cursor into the content, and then use the arrow keys to navigate within the content. To select an element, press Enter.
