Hive HA in Patched ODH 2.0.10 Clusters
ODH clusters patched to version 2.0.10, Hive HA isn't automatically enabled for Big Data Service clusters.
While ODH 2.0.10 introduces Hive HA support, several HiveServer2 (HS2) and Hive Metastore (HMS) instances aren't available by default on a patched cluster.
If you require Hive HA in a patched ODH 2.0.10 environment, manually add more HMS and HS2 instances using Ambari. To manually configure Hive HA and ensure high availability for Hive workloads, complete the following:
- Access Apache Ambari.
- From the side toolbar, click Hosts, and then select the target node to add an HS2 or HMS instance.
- Click Add to add a service, and select the HiveServer2 or Hive Metastore service to be installed on that node.
