Creating a Group-Type Fleet

Combine specific environment-type or product-type fleets to create a group-type fleet in Fleet Application Management.

For description of the fleet types, see Creating a Fleet.
    1. Open the navigation menu and click Observability & Management. Under Fleet Application Management, click Fleets.
    2. On the Fleets list page, click Create fleet.
    3. Enter a unique name and description for the fleet. For the name, only alphanumeric characters are supported. Avoid entering confidential information.
    4. Under Fleet type, select Group.
    5. Under Select group type, select one of the following options:
      • Environment: To filter and add environment-type fleets, select this option and skip to step 6.
      • Product: To filter and add product-type fleets, select this option and skip to step 7.
    6. If you selected Environment for group type, perform the following steps:
      1. To associate a product suite with fleet resources, select a product stack from the Product stack list, for example, Oracle WebLogic Server and Java, or Oracle Fusion Middleware.
        Tip

        All environment fleets within a main fleet can belong to a specific product suite. For example, if the product suite is Oracle Fusion Middleware, then all environment fleets that you select can be Oracle Fusion Middleware development, Oracle Fusion Middleware test, Oracle Fusion Middleware stage, and so on.
      2. Under Add environment fleets, click Select environment fleets and enter details in the Add environment fleets dialog box.

        The environment-type fleets that you select, the product stacks, and the environments appear under Add environment fleets.

    7. If you selected Product for group type, perform the following steps:
      1. Select a product from the Select product list. To know the list of supported products, see Supported Products.
      2. Under Add product fleets, click Select product fleets and enter details in the Add product fleets dialog box.
        For instructions, see step 4 in Adding Product-Type Fleets using the Console.

        The product-type fleets that you select, and the products appear under Add product fleets.

    8. To enter Tagging information for the fleet, click Show tagging options. Then, select a tag namespace and tag key, and enter a tag value. Add more tags as needed. For more information about Tagging, see Resource Tags.
    9. Click Next.
    10. (Optional) To get notified when the fleet status changes, on the Notifications page, enter the following information:
      • Compartment: Select the compartment that contains the resources to be added to the fleet.
      • Topic: Select a topic (Notifications)  that you created in the Notifications service. For information about managing Notifications topics, see Managing Topics.
      • Notification preferences: Select when you want to be notified about a change.
    11. Click Next.
    12. On the Review page, verify the fleet information that you have provided.
    13. To create a group-type fleet and list it on the Fleets list page, click Submit.
  • Use the oci fleet-apps-management fleet create command and required parameters to create a group-type fleet:

    oci fleet-apps-management fleet create [OPTIONS]
