Database Management Metrics for Oracle Databases
You can use the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring service to build metric queries to monitor Oracle Databases for which Database Management Diagnostics & Management is enabled, and create alarms to be notified when the metrics meet alarm-specified triggers.
As initial steps, you must review the concepts essential to working with the Monitoring service and obtain the required permissions. For information, see Monitoring Concepts and Details for Monitoring.
Required Permissions
To monitor the metrics for Managed Databases, you must be granted the required type of access in a policy. The policy must grant you access to the monitoring services as well as the resources being monitored. If you try to perform an action and get a message that you do not have permission or are unauthorized, confirm with your administrator the type of access you've been granted and which compartment you should work in. For more information on user authorizations for monitoring, see the Authentication and Authorization section for the related service: Monitoring or Notifications.
For information on the required Database Management permissions, see Permissions Required to Use Diagnostics & Management.
For information on how to build metric queries and create alarms in the console or using API, see:
For information on data retention periods, see Storage Limits.
The topics in this section provide information on the External Database and Oracle Cloud Database metrics available after Diagnostics & Management is enabled. Information pertaining to Autonomous Database metrics is not available in this section as you do not have to enable Diagnostics & Management for the metrics to be generated. For information, see:
