Refreshing an Identity

The Database Tools service automatically refreshes an identity on a regular basis. Some times you may need to manually refresh an identity.

For example, when an identity is in the NEEDS_ATTENTION state may be because the connection details are no longer valid. To fix this issue, update the connection details and then refresh the identity.
  1. Open the navigation menu and select Developer Services.
  2. In the Database Tools section, select Connections.
  3. Click the name of the connection that you are interested in.
    Identity is available only for a connection that uses resource principal.
  4. On the connection details page, select the Identities tab.
  5. Click the identity you're interested in to view its details.
  6. From the Actions menu, click Refresh.
    A dialog box appears.
  7. Click Refresh to confirm.

The status of the identity changes to Updating, and then to Active. When an identity is refreshed, the Database Tools service generates metrics.
