Configuring Managed Instances
Managed instances are configured using a JMS plug-in. The JMS plug-in allows the agents to interact with data sources (hosts) and send the data back to the cloud service.
The JMS plug-in is provided by:
- Oracle Cloud Agent (OCA): to monitor OCI Oracle Linux compute instance that are in the same tenancy and region.
- Oracle Management Agent (OMA): to monitor all other hosts.
Types of JMS Plug-ins
There are two types of JMS plug-ins that are used to enable specific features:
- Basic features and the following Advanced features are delivered through Java Management Service (JMS) plug-in:
- Java runtime lifecycle management
- Advanced usage tracker
- Crypto event analysis
- JDK flight recorder
- Performance analysis
- Migration analysis is delivered through a dynamic plug-in. If the plug-in is not present in the managed instance, it is downloaded by the agent when the work request is submitted to the agent in the managed instance.
