Sending Oracle Radio Messages

Send a text message to a channel that you are authorized to use.

Send live channel messages from the Radio app or an authenticated WebSocket client.

Sending messages requires radio.message.send and access to the target channel. Review the operation-specific requirements in the linked WebSocket reference. The REST tab explains the available alternative; it doesn't provide an equivalent send operation.

    1. In Radio icon Radio, select the target channel to open its workspace.
    2. In the browser, if the message area shows Not joined, select Join in the channel workspace, channel list, or Channel actions menu.
Wait for Joining… to finish. The editable message area appears after you join and access allows messaging; it is unavailable while membership changes. The message area doesn't contain a separate Join button. If you see Messaging unavailable or Could not join channel, follow the messaging guidance.
    3. In Message #channel, enter the message.
    4. Select Send message.
Radio sends the message to eligible channel clients and adds it to the selected channel's activity.
  • Review the message requirements. Use an authenticated connection and an authorized channel.

    1. Send TEXT_MESSAGE with the channel and text.
Supply a clientMessageId to correlate the terminal response with the pending request.
    2. Handle TEXT_MESSAGE_SENT or the correlated ERROR for that request.
Follow the message scenario for normal and critical messages and retry handling. Changing the identifier for an uncertain result can create a duplicate message.

A successful response confirms the send operation. It doesn't prove that every recipient has read the message.

  • This guide doesn't document a REST operation for sending live channel text messages. Use the Radio app or WebSocket API tab. REST saved subscriptions manage channel selections; they don't send messages.
