New Features in Database Management for Heatwave and External MySQL

This release of Database Management for HeatWave and External MySQL introduces the following enhancements:

  • Database Management features for HeatWave DB systems are now available in two monitoring options: Basic monitoring and Full monitoring. When Database Management is automatically enabled for a new HeatWave DB system, the Basic monitoring features are included by default at no additional cost. For an additional cost, you can now select the Full monitoring option, which offers advanced monitoring metrics, Performance Hub, replication monitoring, and other features, in addition to the Basic monitoring features. Note that for External MySQL DB systems, all Database Management features, including the new ones introduced in this release, continue to be available as part of a non-metered subscription. For more information, see Database Management for HeatWave and External MySQL.
  • Advanced monitoring metrics are now available for HeatWave DB systems that are enabled with the Full monitoring option and External MySQL DB systems. These metrics enable you to proactively monitor database health, performance, and replication behavior. Visual representations of some of these metrics are also available in Database Management. For more information, see Database Management Metrics for HeatWave and External MySQL and HeatWave and External MySQL DB System Metric Charts.
  • Replication monitoring is now available for HeatWave DB systems that are enabled with the Full monitoring option and External MySQL DB systems. Monitoring MySQL replication provides you with the visibility and control needed to manage complex database environments effectively. For more information, see Monitor MySQL Replication.
  • Performance Hub enhancements that enable you to:
    • View the details of an execution error. If an error occurs during the execution of a SQL statement, an error icon is displayed in the Status column in the Top 100 by <indicator> section. You can click the icon to view details such as the error code and the error message.
    • Monitor the Explain plan, which is available in graphical and tabular formats. You can use the Explain plan to understand the statement execution plan, identify inefficiencies and make informed decisions for optimization.

For more information, see Use Performance Hub to Analyze SQL Performance.
