HeatWave: Support for Versions 9.6.0, 8.4.8, and 8.0.45

HeatWave now supports MySQL database 9.6.0, 8.4.8, and 8.0.45 versions. These versions provide security and bug fixes. New DB systems are now based on the 8.4.8 version, by default. You can optionally select 9.6.0 or 8.0.45 when creating a new DB system. For existing DB systems, you can manually upgrade them to newer version, such as from version 8.4.7 to 8.4.8 or from version 8.0.44 to 8.0.45, or allow your maintenance policy to handle the upgrade.

All three versions, 9.6.0 (Innovation), 8.4.8 (LTS), and 8.0.45 (Bugfix), are of production-grade quality. If you want to leverage the most recent advancements and enhancements, and stay abreast of cutting-edge technologies, the Innovation release might be the best fit for you. If you require established behavior, the LTS or Bugfix releases are more suitable.

In this innovation release:

  • HeatWave MySQL now supports auto-materialized view substitution and Grouping Sets.

  • HeatWave Lakehouse now supports load validation of external tables and loading of complex and nested Parquet types.

  • HeatWave GenAI now supports OpenAI and Gemini models.

  • HeatWave AutoML includes a new NL2ML routine parameter.
