Diagnosing SQL Endpoint Logs

Learn how to enable, disable and delete logging for SQL endpoints.

Before viewing the log details for an SQL endpoint, ensure you have set up the necessary IAM policies. See Policies for SQL Endpoints.

  1. Open the navigation menu, and select Analytics and AI. Under Data Lake select Data Flow.
  2. Under List scope, select the compartment the SQL endpoints are in.
  3. In the left-side menu, select SQL endpoints. The list of SQL Endpoints is displayed.
  4. Select a SQL endpoint you want to work with. The SQL endpoint's details page is displayed.
  5. Select the Monitoring tab. In the Diagnostic logs section, you can see the log diagnostics for the SQL endpoint such as log name, log group and log status. Select each of them for more details. The log status can be Active, Updating, Inactive, or Failed. Log status changes when the SQL endpoint is in Inactive state. Logs exists even after the SQL endpoint is deleted unless the log object is deleted.
  6. Select the Actions menu (three dots):
    1. Select View details to access the log details page. See Getting a Log's Details.
    2. Select Enable log. Only if the log status is Inactive or if the log doesn't exist, this option is available. If the log doesn't exist, create it as follows:
      1. (Optional) Select Create new group, if you don't want to use existing log groups.
      2. Select a Log group compartment for the log to be stored.
      3. Select a Log group that's available in the selected log group compartment based on the permission. See Policies for SQL Endpoints.
      4. Enter a unique name for the log located in the log group.
      5. Select a duration for Log retention. By default log is retained for 30 days.

When the log is enabled, a log table is displayed showing the Driver logs.

    3. Select Disable log to disable the log. Log status must be Active to see this option.
    4. Select Delete to delete the log for the SQL endpoint. Log status must be Active, Inactive or Failed to see this option. You can't view logs after the log object is deleted.
