Join or Leave an Elastic Pool
Autonomous Database instances that are added to an existing pool are pool members. As a pool member, you can join or leave an existing elastic pool.

Join an Elastic Pool
To join an elastic pool:
The Lifecycle state changes to UPDATING. The changes apply immediately after the Lifecycle state changes to Available.

Join an Elastic Pool While Provisioning or Cloning an Autonomous Database
To join an elastic pool while provisioning or cloning an Autonomous Database:
- Launch the Create Autonomous Database or Clone Autonomous Database page following the steps documented in Create an Autonomous Database or Clone an Autonomous Database.
- In the Configure the database section:
- Select the Enable elastic pool checkbox.
- Select the Join an existing elastic pool option.
- Select a region from the Region select list, if you want to join an elastic pool whose pool leader is in another region. The default value is current region.
- Choose the pool leader from the Select pool leader in compartment select list.
- Continue with the remaining steps in creating or cloning the Autonomous Database.

Leave an Elastic Pool Autonomous Database
As a pool member, you can remove yourself from an elastic resource pool. See Notes for Leaving an Elastic Resource Pool in the Elastic Resource Pool Billing topic for the billing impact when a pool member leaves an elastic pool.
To leave an elastic pool:
The Lifecycle state changes to UPDATING. The changes apply immediately after the Lifecycle state changes to Available.
