Enable an Exadata System Monitored by Enterprise Manager

When you add an Exadata systems monitored by Enterprise Manager (Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure, Exadata Database Service on Cloud@Customer or Database Machine), you'll be able to use Exadata Insights capacity planning features to optimize performance and resource usage.

Note

Enabling Exadata Systems via Enterprise Manager is the only method available for Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure and requires Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c Release 5 Version 17 (13.5.0.17) or higher.

It is possible to enable Exadata Database Service on Cloud@Customer or Database Machine systems via Enterprise Manager, the recommended method is directly through Ops Insights, see: Add an Exadata Database Service on Cloud@Customer Service System. Using these steps is best for environments where you are already managing your various Exadata Systems via Enterprise Manager and would not like to duplicate information.

To successfully enable an Exadata System and/or Database Machine using Enterprise Manager follow these steps:
  1. Ensure the Enterprise Manager system prerequisites and EM bridge prerequisites are met, see: Adding Enterprise Manager Targets
  2. Follow thePrerequisites for Enabling Exadata Systems via Enterprise Manager
  3. Create an EM bridge following the instruction outlined in: Create an EM Bridge
  4. Add Exadata Systems Monitored by Enterprise Manager
