Registering an OCI Instance
Register an OCI instance with OS Management Hub by enabling the Oracle Cloud Agent service plugin and selecting a profile.
Important
OS Management Hub requires minimum Oracle Cloud Agent version 1.40. For instances using platform images released before April 2024, upgrade the Oracle Cloud Agent to 1.40 or later.

Before You Begin
Before you register an OCI instance with OS Management Hub:
- Complete the getting started.
- Identify the registration profile. Either create a profile or use a service-provided profile.
New OCI Instance
- Follow the steps to create an instance, but use the following settings.
- For networking settings, ensure that the instance has either a public IP address or a service gateway, as described in the Networking Requirements.

Enable the OS Management Hub Agent plugin.
- Click Show Advanced Options.
- On the Oracle Cloud Agent tab, select the OS Management Hub Agent.
- Select a profile to register the instance.
- Click Create.
Existing OCI Instance

- Install the Oracle Cloud Agent software, if it's not already installed. Verify the version is 1.40.0 or later.
- Open the navigation menu, click Compute, and then click Instances.
- Click the instance that you want to register.
- Click the Oracle Cloud Agent tab.
- Enable the OS Management Hub Agent.

Select a profile to use to register the instance.
You can select the service-provided profile in the root compartment or a user-created profile.
- Wait up to 10 minutes for the Oracle Cloud Agent to enable the OS Management Hub Agent plugin.
Verify Instance Registration and Details
Verify the instance registered with OS Management Hub.
What's Next
After registering an instance, consider:
- For standalone instances, update the instance.
- For an instance that's a member of group, update the instances in the group.
- For an instance that's part of a lifecycle environment, promote content to a lifecycle stage.
